Minutes ISIA Assembly of the Delegates 2025 –7th of April, Vail, USA
The minutes of the ISIA AD 2025 in Vail are available and will be soon online. In the meanwhile, you can read them in a separate file that is sent via email together with this Newsletter, as well as all the Annexes related to what was presented during the AD. We thank you in advance for any feedback you would like to provide.
ISIA Assembly 2026
The Board is now assessing the requests that were submitted to host the ISIA Assembly of the Delegates 2026. We have a few candidatures, in case some nations still want to candidate as host, we kindly ask you to let us have your candidature with all the details by the 14th of November 2025.
PSIE seeking recognition through European Delegated Regulation
A draft document from the European Commission in Brussels show an amendment to the Annex I. of the Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/907 establishing a Common Training Test for ski instructors. Under point 5 it states that:
“Ireland has notified one new qualification to be added in the Annex I. Professional Ski Instructors of Europe (PSIE) awards qualification Alpine Ski Teacher – Level 4. Annex I to Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/907 should be amended to reflect this and thus to ensure that ski instructors having completed successfully the corresponding training can benefit from the Common Training Test.”
This is not only an European issue but it affects the entire ISIA family. As discussed at the last two assemblies of the delegates – supporting parallel organisations competing with ISIA Members constitutes a breach of the ISIA Code of Conduct, whether by Member Nations or individual instructors.
The ISIA Presidium takes this development very seriously and calls on all members to take a clear stand against PSIE and its members. We are in contact to IASI our member from Ireland and attempt to influence the Irish Government. All European members are asked to contact their responsible authority to do the same.
The proposal at the last meeting was clear: suspend and remove from the ISIA database those instructors involved with PSIE and/or PSIC. This cannot be done by ISIA office; this is within the authority of each national member (please refer to the minutes of the AD 2025).
UN Nations project
ISIA is continuing its commitment within the joined working group established with Interski, IAESS and BRSUN on environmental issues and plastic waste management in the mountains. After the spring activities, a new number of meetings is coming up in order to plan the next steps. We will keep you posted on the subject.
ISIA Digital Card tools being delivered
As announced in the former newsletter, the ISIA Digital Card solution, implemented in collaboration with our partner Cardu, has gone through a pilot test and the first cards have been issued. It is now time for the second phase of the project: the ISIA Card is ready to be delivered to all the Instructors of those Member Nations that will require the service, as long as they meet all delivery requirements in terms of recorded data. Below you find the instructions you need to know to allow your Members to receive the Digital Card. We kindly ask you to contact the office to ask for releasing the Digital Card to your members, in case you want to take advantage of this service.
How does the ISIA Digital Card work?
The Cardu service reads the ISIA DB once a day and checks each ISIA member found in the database.
- If the member has the required details in the database, a digital member card gets sent to the instructor’s phone. Please not the following requirements must be satisfied:
- the instructor must have valid email and phone number.
- the instructor must have active status and paid membership with CARD level;
- the instructor must install the Cardu App on his phone and register.
If a new member is found in the ISIA DB, a new ISIA Digital Member Card is created in the Cardu DB, and an email is sent to the member. The email contains instructions for the member to access the card.
- If the details of a member found in the ISIA DB have changed, the ISIA Digital Member Card in Cardu gets updated. When the member opens the Cardu application next time, the app reads the updated data from server.
Below the look of the new card, that meets the redesign already announced at the former AD.
Please note that following member data in the ISIA DB must be UpToDate to allow the card delivery in particular:
- Phone number, used to attach the card in member’s Cardu account. Without having the correct phone number in the ISIA DB, the card cannot be delivered to the member.
- Email address, used to communicate the member that an ISIA Digital Member Card is available for him/her.
In the current phase, the physical card, is going to be still available for the Members wishing to have that.
As announced at the AD, the new design is available only through the office, this with the purpose of guaranteeing the uniformity of the cards worldwide. Though the Members are still free to use the old design if they want to print inhouse.
Please note that in the middle term the goal is to eliminate all the physical cards and move only to digital, also for the stamp. This would be in line also with our sustainable goals expressed in the UN project.
