Visit of President Riet R. Campell to China

In November 2016, President Riet R. Campell visited Mr. Ren Hongguo, the state Representative for winter sports in China and Vice-President of the Chinese Ski Association, at his official residence in Beijing. The purpose of the visit was the negotiation of a cooperation agreement which aims to introduce the ISIA Minimum Standard for Chinese Ski Instructors in addition to preparations for the entry of a Chinese umbrella organisation into the international Professional Ski Instructors family.

The forthcoming 2022 winter Olympic Games in China is creating a proper snow sports boom within the host country. Some 300 million snow sports aficionados are expected to emerge between now and the Olympic Games. Derived from this, there will be a need for approximately
300,000 Ski and Snowboard Instructors.

It will be the task of the ISIA to be the warrant of the Minimum Standard in training and to offer full support to its Chinese colleagues.

Currently, many ISIA Members are at work on Ski Instructor Training in China. Everyone’s objective must be to help the
Chinese reach the ISIA Minimum Standard as soon as possible so that they can be accepted in the ISIA family.
